Day One – Open Space
What are the conversations you came here to have?
How might we de-bubble? Moving from silos to open collaboration: Luke
Begin with success stories, porous organisations create permeable bubbles, form relationships, space for chats on collaboration.
We are all in this together – how do we engage with busy lives? Colin
Go to where the people are and take some food.
How to keep the pace without burnout: Glenys
Be real with internal and external realities, have variety, be self exposed in love.
What does well-being in our cities look like? Suzanne
It's true we have the power, need to re-ignite communities, re-boot our values, grass-roots solutions, meet basics needs, more gardens.
Do community voices and action make a difference? Looking for examples: Judith
Community does make a difference when it is focused, connected, organised and communicated around a strongly posed story.
How can we persuade households, people, home owners to use their equity or capital to share and help others who need homes to build and get them? Andrea
We could, at the moment of equity release, create a mechanism to feed investment into housing co-ops (for example). It would address huge injustices that are growing, and reduce the power and profits of property developers.
How can I get more people growing, sharing and eating food to improve their well-being? Sarah
Focus on those who want to, identify the barriers, time, knowledge, space, support. Create a web of opportunities – home street community space. Green hands, green heart, home grown, street grown, community gardens, allotments
How to overcome them and us? Rebecca
Build relationships, trust, understanding through shared vocabulary and values #themandus
Is it possible to engage with social services/education/NHS when they shirk their duties, without being adversarial ? Alice
No it's not. The law is necessary as an enforcer and to create system change and accountability where all other areas have been exhausted
How can we create a platform for the unheard voices of people in poverty and effect change on a wider context? Louise
Stories to humanise humanity, strength in numbers, creativity with a facilitated virtual space gives voice.
